About me

Megan van Engelen (fashion artist, film maker) looks for a balance in between making frivolous and socially impactful fashion pieces. Those pieces focus on themes as personal stories, mental health among young people and activism. Her work is often described as extravagant and campy, and it plays with current affairs.
“I believe that fashion can serve as a tool to open up a conversation on subjects such as these. It empowers oneself and plays with a sense of self-mockery.”
In her narrative-driven work she always seeks for the best way to express the work. Regardless of her crafts, it will find a way to come to life that speaks to the story. She draws inspiration from various things such as fairytales, personal experiences, history and pop culture.
